Calgary Flames News

Dustin Wolf will start Tuesday at Vegas.

Calgary is on the second half of a tough 6-5 loss to Colorado Monday and will go with Dustin Wolf after Dan Vladar took the crease the night before. Wolf has had an up-and-down first four games to start 2023-24, with a 1-2-0 record, .900 SV% and 3.04 GAA. The rookie netminder draws the tough task of hosting Vegas Tuesday, who has won three straight and is tenth in the NHL in both goals for per game (3.31) and shots per game (32.2).

Matt Coronato has been reassigned to the Calgary Wranglers (AHL).

Coronato played most of the opening month with the Flames, tallying two points (1G / 1A) in 10 games, but has since fallen out of favour, playing his first game in over a month on Saturday. He has since been reassigned to the Calgary Wranglers (AHL), where he has 18 points (8G / 10A) in 14 games this season.

Brayden Pachal will draw back into the Golden Knights' lineup Tuesday vs. Calgary.

Kaedan Korczak will not play on Tuesday due to a lower-body injury, allowing Pachal to return to the lineup for the first time since November 25th. Pachal is averaging 15:22 time-on-ice through 13 games this season and has been held without a point in 12 straight.

Joel Hanley will draw back into the Stars' lineup Monday vs. Detroit.

Hanley will draw back into the lineup as Nils Lundkvist will be a healthy scratch for the Stars against the Detroit Red Wings. Between a Thomas Harley injury last month and Lundkvist being a frequent healthy scratch lately, Hanley has semi-regularly found himself in the Stars lineup. The 32-year-old serves as a third-pairing defenseman and is averaging 12:48 time-on-ice but has yet to record a point this season.

Martin Pospisil will draw back into the Flames' lineup Thursday vs. Carolina.

Walker Duehr will be a healthy scratch on Thursday, allowing Pospisil to draw back into the lineup for the Flames. The Slovak-born Pospisil has five points (3G / 2A), averaging 13:09 time-on-ice, and 32 shots on goal through 14 games this season. He is expected to play on a line with Connor Zary and Nazem Kadri.

Dustin Wolf will start Thursday vs. Carolina.

Wolf was recalled earlier this week after Jacob Markstrom suffered a fractured finger that will keep him out of the lineup for several weeks. Wolf began as the backup on Tuesday but entered the net in relief of Daniel Vladar early in the second period and went on to save 11 of 13 shots (.846 SV%) in an eventual 5-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild. Albeit unspectacular in his one full game with the Flames earlier this season, allowing four goals on 34 shots (.895 SV%) in a losing effort, the high-pedigree Wolf will have the opportunity to make a name for himself at the NHL level. With the Calgary Wranglers (AHL), Wolf has been excellent, boasting a 2.50 GAA and .920 SV% in 13 games (10-3-0).
