Swayman will start in Vegas on Thursday.

The Bruins are coming off their first loss of the season (3-1-0), but Swayman remains perfect and will return to the crease on Thursday against the Vegas Golden Knights. After a forgetful 2024-25 season, the 26-year-old Swayman is off to a hot start in 2025-26, posting a 1.00 GAA and .966 SV% through two games (2-0-0). Still, the Bruins enter Thursday's contest as +198 road underdogs against a Golden Knights team that has scored 14 goals through their first four games (2-0-2).

Borgen (lower-body) will be a game-time decision in Toronto on Thursday.

Borgen showed no signs of an injury in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers, playing a season-high 20:32 time-on-ice, but did not participate in practice on Wednesday. His status for Thursday's game against the New York Rangers is up in the air. The Rangers recalled defenseman Scott Morrow from the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) as a potential replacement if Borgen is not able to play.

Swayman will start Boston's opener in Washington on Wednesday.

The Bruins missed the playoffs last year for the first time in eight seasons and have lower-than-usual expectations again in 2025-26. In the first year of an eight-year contract in 2024-25, Swayman had the worst season of his career, posting a 3.11 GAA and .892 SV% in 58 appearances (22-29-7). If the Bruins hope to rebound into playoff contention in 2025-26, they will need Swayman to lead the way. The Bruins enter their season-opening matchup on Wednesday against the Washington Capitals as +163 road underdogs.
