Carlson (lower-body) travelled to New Jersey and could return to the lineup on Friday.

Carlson has been sidelined by a lower-body since February 24th, but it looks like he will return to the lineup tonight in New Jersey. Carlson’s status will not be known until head coach Barry Trotz meets with the media around 5 p.m. ET. Carlson has 31 points (6G / 25A) in 47 games this season.

Mrazek will start Thursday vs. the Canadiens.

Mrazek allowed three goals on 18 shots after replacing Jimmy Howard in the Red Wings 6-2 loss in Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Mrazek has struggled in March, going 2-4-0 with a 3.30 GAA and .894 SV%. The 24-year-old will be making his third start of the season vs. Montreal—he has gone 1-1-0 with a 2.51 GAA and .923 SV% in the first two meetings.

The Bruins have recalled Frank Vatrano from Providence (AHL).

Vatrano, 22, has split his time between Boston and Providence during the 2015-16 campaign. He has registered six goals and one assist (seven points) in 30 games in Boston and leads the AHL in goals with 33 in 33 games. In addition to the 33 goals Vatrano has added 16 assists for 49 points, which is good for third on the team.

Mrazek missed the last two games with an illness, but he was back on the ice for Monday’s practice, which suggests that he could be back in goal for Tuesday’s game in Tampa Bay. Mrazek has gone 2-4-0 with a 3.14 GAA and .901 SV% in March.

Trouba missed Friday’s practice with an upper-body injury, which foreshadowed his absence from the lineup tonight. With Trouba out and listed as day-to-day, Josh Morrissey has been recalled from Manitoba (AHL) and will make his NHL debut on Saturday.

Mrazek missed Monday’s game with a “tender groin” but will return to the crease tonight for his first career start vs. the Blackhawks. Mrazek has won two in a row and is 11-5-5 with a 2.02 GAA and .925 SV% at Joe Louis Arena this season.

The Red Wings surprisingly announced that Jimmy Howard would start tonight, but we now know it’s because Mrazek is day-to-day with a minor groin injury. With Mrazek out, they have recalled Jared Coreau from Grand Rapids (AHL) to back up Howard.

Carlson has had a great season, but will miss an extended period of time for the second time this season. Carlson underwent a procedure on his unspecified lower-body injury and will keep him out for 3-4 weeks. He is expected to be moved to long-term IR but should be back before the playoffs.
