The loss snapped a brief two-game winning streak for Brossoit, who comes into Saturday at 3-1-0 with a. 3.25 GAA and .895 SV% on the road. The Kings are scoring 3.14 goals per game on home-ice this season, so Brossoit doesn't have a lot of spot-start intrigue tonight.

Poehling played in four straight games but was sent back before Friday's game in Washington. Jordan Weal will take the spot that was previously filled by Poehling. He returns to the AHL, where he has collected three goals and two assists (five points) in 14 games.

Brossoit allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Jets win in Vegas on started the last four games but Brossoit will give him the night off in Florida. He is 2-1-0 with a 3.32 GAA and .887 SV% on the road this season and isn't a good option against a Panthers team that is 4-1-1 in their last six.

Brossoit has not played very well this season, posting a .852 SV% in three appearances. To make matters worse, he will be taking on a Vegas team that is very good on home-ice. On a positive note, he will go head-to-head with Malcolm Subban instead of Marc-Andre Fleury.

Brossoit gave up four goals on 33 shots in the Jets loss to the Islanders last Saturday. Brossoit has allowed four goals in each of his two starts, posting an .889 SV% in the process. With Connor Hellebuyck starting on Saturday, it left Brossoit to start game-two of the back-to-back on Sunday. The Penguins are banged up but they’ve won two games in a row and are 3-2-0 to start the season.

With Connor Hellebuyck struggling in his season debut, the Jets will give Brossoit a second straight start tonight vs. the Islanders. Brossoit is 8-6-0 in 14 career road appearances with the Jets.

With Connor Hellebuyck starting on Thursday, Brossoit will make his season debut on the tail-end of the back-to-back. Brossoit played extremely well during his first season with the Jets, going 13-6-2 with a 2.52 GAA and .925 SV% in 21 games. He’ll be a solid spot-start option throughout the 2019-20 season, but his first matchup is difficult. The Devils revamped their offence this offseason and present a tough challenge for a weak Jets bluelline.
Poehling is out indefinitely with a concussion.
Poehling took a big hit from Dryden Hunt during last Wednesday’s preseason game and is out indefinitely with a concussion. This is a tough break for Poehling, who was likely to open the season on the Canadiens roster. However, it does open up the possibility for Montreal to take a look at Ryan Suzuki early in the season.
The Avalanche signed A.J. Greer to a one-year, two-way contract.
Greer split the 2019 season between the AHL and NHL, scoring one goal and one assist in 15 games in Colorado. During his time in the AHL, Greer was second on the team with 44 points (19G / 25A) in 54 games. He will likely start 2020 in the AHL.
The Blues have signed Ville Husso to a one-year, two-way contract.
Husso appeared in 27 games with San Antonio (AHL) last season, going 6-18-0 with a 3.67 GAA and .871 SV%. With Jordan Binnington and Jake Allen clearly ahead of him on the depth chart, Husso will remain in the AHL to start the 2020 campaign.
The Jets signed Laurent Brossoit to a one-year extension worth $1.225 million.
Brossoit signed with the Jets as a free agent last summer after spending the first four seasons of his career in Edmonton. Brossoit turned in a superb season as Connor Hellebuyck’s backup, going 13-6-2 with a 2.52 GAA, .925 SV% and one shutout in 19 starts and two relief appearances. Brossoit proved he is a capable backup option and will remain with Winnipeg for another season.
