Bjornfot has not played since Florida returned to action from the Olympic break, but he will re-enter the lineup on Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils. The 24-year-old Swedish defenseman is averaging 11:20 time-on-ice and has three points (2G / 1A) in 10 games this season. Jeff Petry will be a healthy scratch to accommodate Bjornfot's return.

Florida continued to shore up its defensive depth on Thursday after announcing it had signed 24-year-old defenseman Tobias Bjornfot to a one-year, two-way contract extension. The former first-round pick came to Florida off waivers in March 2024 and managed to appear in 14 games with the Panthers during the 2024-25 season, failing to record a point. He spent the majority of last season with Charlotte (AHL), where he had three goals and 18 points in 50 games played.

Bjornot has only played 11 games with the Panthers this season, averaging 13:06 time-on-ice and scoring zero points, and has been re-assigned to the Charlotte Checkers (AHL). In a corresponding move, the Panthers have recalled Jaycob Megna.

Bjornfot played eight games with the Panthers earlier this season but has spent most of the 2024-25 campaign in the AHL. The 23-year-old defenseman has 16 points (2G / 14A) in 43 games with the Charlotte Checkers (AHL) this season.
