Timo Meier News

Meier has missed the last three games with an undisclosed injury but will play tonight vs. the Hurricanes. Meier will skate on a line with Joe Thornton and Marcus Sorensen and re-enters the lineup with 13 goals and 10 assists (23 points) in 25 games.

Meier has missed the last three games but skated with Joe Thornton and Marcus Sorensen in Tuesday’s practice, suggesting he’ll be back on Wednesday. Monitor his status when the Sharks hit the ice for tomorrow’s morning skate.

Meier has not recorded a point in his last four games and has just one goal and one assist (two points) in seven games this season. Meier will be replaced by Barclay Goodrow in tonight’s lineup in New York.

Meier, 20, was the ninth overall pick in 2015 and has played great in his first professional season. In 17 games with the San Jose Barracuda, Meier has collected nine goals and six assists (15 points). Last year he had an absurd 34 goals and 53 assists (87 points) in just 52 QMJHL games, which showcases his high offensive ability. He is worth an add in keeper leagues because he could play in the top-6 immediately.

Meier was injured in the Sharks’ preseason and wasn’t expected to be ready until the end of October. He will probably get up-to-speed with the Barracuda before he is recalled by the Sharks.
