Couturier will be back in the Flyers’ lineup tonight and will skate on the third line with Nick Cousins and Dale Weise. Couturier is an excellent two-way centre and enters Wednesday with eight points (5G / 3A) in 20 games this season.

Couturier has missed the last 16 games because of an MCL sprain, but it looks like he will be back in the lineup on Wednesday. Couturier has been sidelined with a sprained MCL but has been working out on the ice recently and expects to be back after the Christmas break and before the New Year kicks in. Couturier was moved to IR this morning and the Flyers’ announced that he will miss at least one month an MCL sprain. The Flyers have recalled Scott Laughton from Lehigh Valley (AHL) to replace Couturier in the lineup.

Couturier suffered a sprained MCL during the Flyers’ win in Florida last night and will miss some time. With Couturier out, the Flyers have recalled Scott Laughton from Lehigh Valley, but the Flyers will dearly miss Couturier’s valuable two-way game.

Couturier must have been banged up during last night’s game in Montreal and will be a game-time decision on Tuesday. The Flyers recalled Taylor Leier in case Couturier is unavailable.

Couturier was crunched into the board by Alex Ovechkin in Game 1 and skated to the bench with his arm hanging. It immediately looked like a shoulder injury that would force him to miss some time and that length of time has been determined to be two weeks. Scott Laughton will replace Couturier in Game 2.


Couturier has missed the last nine games with a lower-body injury, but he is expected to return Tuesday vs. the Hurricanes. Couturier will likely take on a heavier offensive role on Tuesday with Claude Giroux sidelined. Couturier has picked up 26 points (9G / 15A) in 40 games this season.

Couturier had to be helped off of the ice during the Flyers win over the Bruins on Wednesday. He was hit high by Bruins forward and former teammate Zac Rinaldo. Couturier may have suffered a concussion, which could keep him out of Saturday’s game vs. the Rangers. Monitor his status leading up to that contest.

Couturier was not on the ice on Wednesday because of a stomach virus, but he is back out there today and should play tonight. The young centre has recorded three goals and two assists (5 points) in 12 games this season.
