Vilmanis is the odd-man out as A.J. Greer re-enters the lineup after sitting out Thursday night's game. Vilmanis has appeared in 19 games this season, logging three goals and two assists.

A.J. Greer will re-enter Florida's lineup on Friday against the Detroit Red Wings, resulting in Wilmanis being a healthy scratch. The 22-year-old Vilmanis has five points (3G / 2A) in 19 games in his first NHL season.

It's unclear when Vilmanis suffered the injury, but he managed to play just 2:35 of ice time before exiting the game for good. Vilmanis caused a stir earlier in the game when he was penalized for an illegal hit to the head of Bruins defenceman Charlie McAvoy. McAvoy left the game but was able to return for the start of the second period.

Vilmanis was a fifth-round pick in 2022 and will make his NHL debut after 92 career AHL games with Charlotte. This year, he has eight goals and 11 assists (19 points) in 31 games. He'll suit up on the Panthers' fourth line with Luke Kunin and Jack Studnicka.
