Carrick provides some depth in the Oilers' bottom six despite struggling offensively over the last two seasons with the Anaheim Ducks. In his last 113 games with the Ducks, Carrick has tallied only 18 points (11G / 7A), after scoring a more impressive 25 points (13G / 12A) in his previous 77.

Carrick was a healthy scratch for the Ducks' previous game but will draw back into the lineup Wednesday vs. Washington. The 31-year-old has three goals, two assists, 42 SOG, 68 PIMs and a -19 plus/minus through 43 games this season.

Carrick will make his season debut Tuesday as the Ducks take on the Detroit Red Wings. In four games with San Diego (AHL) on a conditioning stint prior to his activation, he had zero points and four PIMs. He will slot in with Kevin Shattenkirk heading to the injured reserve Tuesday.

Carrick underwent successful hip surgery in May to repair a torn labrum in his left hip. Carrick was expected to be sidelined for six months from the time of the surgery, so he'll miss at least the first month of the 2022-23 season.

Carrick split the 2021 campaign between the AHL and NHL, finishing with six points (2G / 4A) in 13 games with the Ducks. He finished sixth among San Diego (AHL) skaters in points-per-game, scoring 14 goals with 10 assists (24 points) in 27 games (0.889 Pts/gm).

After spending the first seven years of his career in the Maple Leafs organization, Carrick has been with the Ducks since 2016-17. In that time, he has appeared in just 15 NHL games, amassing one goal and two assists. However, he has been prolific at the AHL-level, leading the team in points (61) last year and was leading San Diego in goals (23) and points (43) in 46 games before this year was paused.

Carrick appeared in two games with the Ducks last week, picking up one assist and four shots while playing 13:07 ATOI. He has 10 goals and six assists (16 points) in 18 AHL games this season.

Carrick spent most of the 2018-19 season with San Diego (AHL), where he led the team in goals (32) and points (61) in 61 games. The 27-year-old played in six games with the Ducks, picking up just one assist—giving him three points (1G / 2A) in 25 career NHL games.

Carrick is a former fifth-round pick two has just one goal and one assist in 22 career NHL games. Carrick will likely serve as the Ducks extra forward with Ondrej Kase going on IR.
