Strome signed a two-year contract that carries a $3.1M AAV cap-hit. Strome has significantly better possession numbers than Spooner, posting a 53.5 CorsiFor% and +3.2 CF% rel with the Oilers this season. However, Strome has had a really difficult time producing offence, picking up just two points (1G / 1A) in 18 games this season.


Strome, 23, was the No.5 overall pick in 2011 and has had a couple of tough seasons since posting 50 points (17G / 33A) in 2014-15. Overall, Strome has 126 points (45G / 81A) in 258 career NHL games. Strome is set to become a restricted free agent next summer and carries a $2.5 million cap hit this year, versus Eberle’s $6.0M AAV for the next two seasons.


Strome is reportedly not feeling well, so there’s a good chance that Anthony Beauvillier will replace Strome tonight vs. the Blues.

Strome was a healthy scratch in the last two games, but will be in the lineup for Alan Quine on Wednesday. Strome has collected six points (2G / 4A) in 19 games this season. He will play centre, likely on the third line with Jason Chimera and Anders Lee.

Strome struggled with the Islanders at the start of the season, posting just one goal and four assists in 12 games. After being reassigned, he picked up two goals and two assists in eight games with Bridgeport. Strome will be in the Isles’ lineup on Friday.

Strome has no recorded a point in five games and has been a healthy scratch in two of the last seven games. Strome has struggled to just five points (1G / 4A) in 12 games this season and the Islanders have decided to send him back to the AHL to help him get his game back on track. The Islanders have also been impressed with Steve Bernier, which allowed them to demote Strome.



Strome was a late scratch from Thursday’s game because of an illness and his absence from practice this morning puts his status for Saturday in doubt. The Islanders play at 1 p.m, so expect an update on his status a few hours before game-time.
