Rakell missed the first nine games of the season with an abdomen injury, contract holdout and work visa issue. However, he was back on the ice on Monday, centring the third line with Antoine Vermette and Chris Wagner on his wing. Rakell, who had 43 points (20G / 23A) in 72 games last year, was also featured on the second power-play.

Rakell is imperative to the Ducks success as their second/third line centre. He is coming off of a career-year, having scored 20 goals with 23 assists (43 points) in 72 games.

Rakell missed the final seven games of the regular season after having his appendix removed. The third-year centre set career-highs in goals (20), assists (23), points (43), shots (169) and game-winners (7). He is expected to play between Jamie McGinn and Corey Perry tonight.


Rakell has missed the last three games and it looks like he will mis his fourth consecutive contest tonight vs. Edmonton. Rakell is listed as questionable, which means he might take warmups and then decide if he can play. Consider him a game-time decision.

Rakell suffered an upper-body injury in Wednesday’s game vs. the Panthers and will be held out of the lineup on Friday. The Ducks have a back-to-back on Friday and Saturday, so Rakell is in danger of missing both games.


Rakell, 21, had three assists in 17 games with the Ducks before being sent down. In two games with Norfolk, Rakell tallied ones goal and three assists. He has been recalled because Corey Perry is out with a knee injury.

With Cam Fowler and Nick Bonino out with injuries, the Ducks have recalled Rakell along with Emerson Etem. Rakell, 20, has one assist in nine games with the Ducks this season. While in the AHL he has tallied 14 goals and 23 assists (37 points) in 46 games.

Rakell was recalled on Thursday and will suit up for his eighth game of the season on Friday vs. the Penguins. In his previous seven games Rakell has one assist. While in Norfolk (AHL), he has registered 14 goals and 23 assists (37 points in 43 games. Rakell was the Ducks' first-round selection (30th overall) in 2011.

The 2011, 30th overall pick Rakell has four goals and one assist in nine games with Norfolk. He appeared in four NHL games with the Ducks last season, but did not register a point.

Rakell scored 44 points in 40 games with the Whalers this season. He was unable to record a point in four games with the Ducks earlier in the season.

Rakell will return to the Plymouth Whalers of the the OHL . Rakell will be a welcomed addition to the Whalers who are securely in the OHL playoff race.
