Petr Mrazek News

Mrazek stopped all 37 shots that he faced in the Red Wings shutout win in New Jersey last night. Mrazek will start for the second straight night and comes in with shutouts in his lat two games—he has stopped the 64 shots he has faced. Mrazek has been up and down this season and doesn’t make for a safe option with a hot Flyers team in town.

Mrazek stopped all 27 shots that he faced in the Red Wings’ 4-0 shutout win over the Blackhawks on January 14th. Despite the shutout, Jimmy Howard started the next two games (both losses). He faced the Devils earlier this season, but didn’t finish the game—he allowed three goals on 24 shots in what ended up being a 4-3 OT loss.

Mrazek allowed three goals on 24 shots before departing the Red Wings OT loss to the Devils with an injury. The injury was not serious as Mrazek was available to backup for the last two games and will start tonight in Montreal. Mrazek has not started a lot this season, but comes in at 2-3-0 with a 2.78 GAA and .913 SV% on the road.

Mrazek gave up two goals on nine shots after replacing Jimmy Howard in the Red Wings’ loss to Edmonton Wednesday. With Howie going last night, Mrazek gets the nod tonight vs. New Jersey. The 25-year-old has barely played this season, going 2-3-1 with a 3.10 GAA and .905 SV% in five starts and two relief appearances.

Mrazek stopped all 36 shots that he faced in the Red Wings shutout win over the Oilers on Sunday. Mrazek has played well so far this season, stopping 145 of the 157 shots (.924 SV%) that he has faced in four starts and one relief appearance. Tonight he faces a Flames team that is second last in the NHL in scoring, averaging just 2.40 goals per game.

Mrazek stopped 19 of 21 shots after replacing Jimmy Howard in the Red Wings’ loss in Toronto on Wednesday. After allowing a goal on the first shot that he faced, Mrazek settled in and nearly led a Red Wings’ comeback. So far this season he has stopped 72 of 80 shots (.900 SV%) and he will be in tough tonight vs. the high-powered Capitals.

Mrazek allowed three goals on 32 shots in the Red Wings loss in Dallas on Tuesday. With Jimmy Howard starting last night, Mrazek will get his second start of the week tonight in Vegas. The Golden Knights have surprisingly bust out of the gate this season but Mrazek will look to snap their bid for a 4-0 start.

Jimmy Howard was in the starter’s crease on Monday, but it looks like Mrazek will start his first game of the season tonight in Dallas. This seems like a weird time to give Mrazek a start considering Howard has been playing great and they have a back-to-back on Thursday/Friday. The 25-year-old is coming off of a tough season, particularly on the road, where he went 9-11-4 with a 3.15 GAA and .901 SV%
