Tippett suffered an upper-body injury in the Flyers' season opener and was placed on IR on Saturday. Tippett now has to miss at least one week and the move created a roster spot for the Flyers to recall Olle Lycksell from Lehigh Valley (AHL).
Tippett played just 4:20 TOI before exiting Thursday's game with an upper-body injury. With Tippett ruled out for Saturday's contest, Jackson Cates was recalled from the AHL and look for Joel Farabee to remain in his spot on PP1, after taking over for him there on Thursday.

The 23-year-old 2017 first-round pick was only able to play 4:20 before heading to the Flyers' dressing room to end his night. Tippett produced seven points (4G/3A) in 21 games after being dealt to the Flyers as part of the Claude Giroux mega deal in 2021-22.
Tippett was acquired from the Panthers as a part of the Claude Giroux trade on Saturday night and will immediately make his Flyers debut on Sunday afternoon. The 23-year-old was drafted No.10 overall in 2017 and has scored 14 goals with 19 assists (33 points) in 94 career NHL games.
Tippett was recalled from the AHL prior to Tuesday's game but served as a healthy scratch. Tippett will replace Patric Hornqvist (undisclosed) in the lineup against the Oilers. Tippett has scored four goals with seven assists (11 points) in 33 games this season.
Tippett went to Charlotte for a couple of games, recording four assists. He returns to the Panthers with Maxim Mamin going to the taxi squad, suggesting Tippett will be back on the third line on Tuesday.
The Panthers placed four new players in COVID-19 protocol on Sunday, the same day that they activated eight players from the list. With Tippett likely out until the middle of next week, Ryan Lomberg moved up into the top-9 in Monday's practice.
This was a necessary move if Markus Nutivaara is to make his season debut, so Tippett goes to the taxi squad and either Juho Lammikko or Ryan Lomberg will replace him upfront.
