Nils Hoglander News

Hoglander underwent lower-body surgery towards the end of training camp and will finally make his season debut on Monday against the Minnesota Wild. The 24-year-old should return to his usual bottom-six role this season after an eight-goal, 25-point campaign across 72 games played in 2024-25.

Hoglander's sixth season in Vancouver will get off to a rocky start after the Canucks announced Monday that the forward successfully underwent lower-body surgery and is expected to be out for 8-10 weeks. The 24-year-old was expecting to play his usual bottom-six role this season after an eight-goal, 25-point campaign across 72 games played in 2024-25.

Hoglander was expected to start the season on Vancouver's third line but will likely need to wait to make his season debut, as he is sidelined week-to-week with a lower-body injury. The 24-year-old scored 25 points (8G / 17A) in 72 games last season.

Hoglander has not played since March 22nd but returned to practice on Friday. The 24-year-old Hoglander is averaging 11:52 time-on-ice and has 21 points (6G / 15A) in 66 games this season. The Canucks return to action on Saturday against the Anaheim Ducks.

It's unclear at this point whether Hoglander is battling an undisclosed injury or is simply a healthy scratch. Linus Karlsson will draw into the lineup in his place.

Hoglander appears to be the odd-man out of the Canucks lineup as they make way for the expected return of Elias Pettersson (undisclosed). Hoglander has just two goals and six assists in 38 games this season.

Hoglander will take a seat along with Max Sasson on Thursday as the Canucks opt to get some fresh legs into the lineup for the tail-end of their back-to-back. Their absences will allow Phil Di Giuseppe and Linus Karlsson to make their season debuts.

Höglander is coming off his first full season with the Canucks and has been rewarded with a three-year contract extension after scoring 36 points (24G / 12A) in 80 games. In addition, Höglander was tied for second amongst all Canucks' forward with a +23 plus/minus. The 23-year-old Swede is projected to play alongside Aatu Raty and Conor Garland on the third line.

Hoglander has been a healthy scratch for Vancouver's previous two games but is expected to draw back into the lineup for Ilya Mikheyev on Thursday for Game 5. The 23-year-old has vastly underperformed in the playoffs after scoring 24 goals in the regular season, with one assist, four SOG, two PIMs and a -2 plus/minus in eight games played.

Hoglander has struggled so far in his first career playoff action and is expected to be a healthy scratch for Game 3 on Sunday in Edmonton. The 23-year-old scored 24 goals during the regular season but has only one assist, four SOG, two PIMs and a -2 plus/minus through eight playoff games so far.

Linus Karlsson is expected to re-enter the Canucks lineup on Thursday as Hoglander will be a healthy scratch for the first time in nearly two months. Hoglander has zero points in his last four games, firing only three shots on goal in the process.

Hoglander has only one point (1G / 0A) in his last seven games and was a game-time decision on Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators as he deals with an undisclosed injury. He'll skate alongside Pius Suter and Sam Lafferty on Vancouver's fourth line.
