Nic Dowd News

Dowd missed Monday's game but was able to play Wednesday. Dowd took a spill at the morning skate and is questionable to play Friday. Brett Leason will make his NHL debut if Dowd can't play.

Dowd did not travel to Ottawa for Monday's game and is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. With Dowd out, Lars Eller will shift to the fourth line in his spot and Hendrix Lapierre will draw back into the lineup.

Dowd is with his wife, who is in labour with their first child, and will not play vs. the Islanders this afternoon. Tom Wilson is expected to be back in the lineup this afternoon, replacing Dowd in the lineup--but Travis Boyd will centre the fourth line.

Dowd's move to IR means he will miss at least one more game and it opens up a roster spot to call-up a forward to fill-in for Nicklas Backstrom, who is now dealing with an upper-body injury of his own.

The Capitals will likely need to recall a forward to replace Dowd in the lineup on Friday night. Dowd suffered a deep cut on his hand in Philadelphia and will likely need a couple of days to let that heal before re-entering the Washington lineup.

Dowd has been out of the lineup for the last three games but will replace Carl Hagelin vs. the Golden Knights. Dowd will centre the fourth line and re-enters the lineup with two goals and one assist in 11 games this season.

Dowd has missed the last two games but may return to the lineup in Florida. Dowd brings almost no offence to the table, scoring just two goals with one assist (three points) in 11 games this season.

Dowd is dealing with a lower-body injury that he suffered in Toronto on Tuesday. With Dowd out, Chandler Stephenson will play vs. Buffalo and Liam O'Brien was called up from Hershey (AHL) to serve as an extra forward.

Dowd was forced to leave Tuesday's game in Toronto with a lower-body injury and is officially listed as day-to-day. Dowd is unlikely to play Friday vs. the Sabres, so look for Chandler Stephenson to draw back into the lineup.

Dowd averaged 10:22 TOI/gm through the first three games of the season but did not record a shot or point. Dowd will be replaced by Evgeny Kuznetsov, who will make his season debut after serving his three-game suspension.

Dowd has registered one goal and one assist in 12 games with the Capitals this season. With Travis Boyd (foot) set to make his season debut vs. the Oilers, Dowd will be a healthy scratch.

Dowd came out for Sam Gagner on Tuesday, but with Gagner back in Vancouver with a sprained ankle, Dowd will return tonight in Tampa Bay. Dowd has just two points (1G / 1A) in 36 games with the Kings/Canucks this season.

Dowd has had an extended run in the Canucks lineup but will be replaced by Brendan Gaunce in the lineup on Tuesday. Dowd has just one goal in 19 games since joining the Canucks.

Dowd was a healthy scratch for the first two games of the year, but will replace Kyle Clifford in Tuesday’s lineup. The 26-year-old centre had 48 points (14G / 34A) in 58 games with the Manchester Monarchs (AHL) a season ago.
