Buffalo added to their defensive depth late Thursday after they announced they had trade for Luke Schenn and Logan Stanley from Winnipeg for Isak Rosen, Jacob Bryson, a 2027 2nd Round Pick, and conditional 2026 4th Round Pick. Schenn will join his 10th NHL franchise in his 18th NHL season and has a goal, seven points and 32 PIMs in 46 games played so far in 2025-26.

With this being the final game before the trade deadline and Schenn presumably being healthy, scratching him seems likely to be due to roster management reasons. Logan Stanley will also join Schenn in the press box on Thursday, while Isaak Phillips and Ville Heinola will draw into the lineup.

Schenn did not play in Winnipeg's most recent game, but he will return to the lineup on Tuesday against the New York Islanders. The 36-year-old Schenn has five points (1G / 4A) and 88 hits in 30 games this season.

Haydn Fleury will exit Winnipeg's lineup as a healthy scratch on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings, allowing Schenn to re-enter. The 36-year-old Schenn is averaging 13:10 time-on-ice, recording 12 blocks, and 24 hits in 10 games this season.

Schenn is battling an undisclosed ailment and did not play on Tuesday but could draw back into the lineup on Thursday against the Vegas Golden Knights. The 35-year-old Schenn is averaging 17:42 time-on-ice, recording one assist, 19 blocks, and 49 hits in nine games with the Jets this season.
