Jack McBain News

McBain exited Thursday's 6-2 win over the Seattle Kraken after only 9:00 time-on-ice. The severity of McBain's injury is unclear, but he was not officially ruled out from returning to the game upon first exiting, which may indicate the team is hopeful it is not a long-term concern. The 26-year-old McBain is averaging 13:51 time-on-ice, recording 25 points (9G / 16A) and 271 hits in 75 games this season.

McBain did not practice on Tuesday due to an illness, and it is unclear if he will be ready to play when Utah returns to action on Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche. The 26-year-old forward has 19 points (6G / 13A) and 196 hits in 57 games this season.

McBain exited Utah's most recent game early after only 4:56 time-on-ice due to an upper-body injury, but will not miss any more time, suiting up for Thursday's game against the St. Louis Blues. The 25-year-old McBain averaged 3.5 hits and 0.3 points per game in the 2024-25 season but is trailing that pace early in 2025-26, averaging only 2.1 hits and 0.1 points through seven games.

McBain has battled an illness and an injury that have limited his preseason availability, but he will be ready to play in Utah's season opener next week. The 25-year-old McBain was productive from Utah's bottom-six last season, scoring a career-high 27 points (13G / 14A) and tallying 291 hits in 82 contests.

McBain is expected to miss the next few days of training camp after it was announced Monday that he was day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. The 25-year-old forward will be looking to build on a career year from 2025-26, where he had 13 goals, 27 points and 78 PIMs in 82 games played.

Utha and Jack McBain have come to an agreement through arbitration after the 25-year-old was signed to a five-year extension worth $4.25 million AAV ($21.25 million total). The three-year pro is fresh off a season where he posted career highs in almost all categories, including goals (13), points (27) and PIMs (78).

McBain has missed 16 straight games due to a lower-body injury dating back to November 9th but is expected to make his return to the Coyotes lineup on Friday. In 13 games this season, McBain had seven points (4G / 3A) while averaging 12:13 time-on-ice.

McBain, in his third NHL season, was pacing to crush his career-highs, with seven points (4G / 3A) in 13 games this season. He did not play on Saturday and will be out week-to-week with an upper-body injury. The Coyotes have recalled Milos Kelemen as a potential roster replacement during McBain's absence.

McBain had 12 goals, 14 assists, 85 SOG, 64 PIMs and a -8 plus/minus through 82 games in 2022-23 and has signed a two-year, $3.2 million contract extension with Arizona. The 23-year-old centre was drafted by Minnesota in the third-round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft (63rd overall) and has 14 goals and 29 points across 92 games and two seasons with Arizona.

McBain would not sign with the Wild, so he was dealt to the Coyotes before the trade deadline and signed his entry-level deal on Wednesday. The 22-year-old centre is 6-foot-4 and 208 lbs, and scored 19 goals with 14 assists (33 points) in 24 games with Boston College this season.

McBain was a third-round pick of the Wild in 2018 but his agent informed the Wild earlier this month that he planned to become a free agent this summer rather than sign with Minnesota. McBain led Boston College with 33 points (19G / 14A) in 24 games this season.
