Andersen will start the Maple Leafs season opener vs. the Canadiens.

Andersen put a rough October behind him last year and ended up finishing the season with 38 wins in 66 starts while posting a 2.81 GAA, .918 SV% and five shutouts. Andersen draws a fantastic opening night matchup vs. a torn down Montreal team that he was 3-0 with a 1.66 GAA, .950 SV% and one shutout against last season.

Andersen allowed two goals on 25 shots in the Maple Leafs win in Nashville on Thursday. Andersen has gone 2-3-0 with a 4.25 GAA and .868 SV% in is starts this month. Despite a relatively tough month, he is a must-start vs. an awful Red Wings team who have been among the league-worst since the trade deadline.

Andersen allowed four goals on 25 shots in the Maple Leafs loss in Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Toronto blew a third period lead vs. the Lightning but will get Auston Matthews back tonight in Nashville. As good as Andersen has been this season, this is a terrible matchup, so take a look at your other options first.

Andersen (upper-body) will return to the Maple Leafs crease on Tuesday.

Andersen gave up three goals on 20 shots before leaving last Wednesday’s game vs. Dallas with an upper-body injury. Andersen ended up missing the last two games, but will be back tonight in Tampa Bay. The 28-year-old is 1-1-1 with a 2.63 GAA and .929 SV% in three starts vs. the Lightning this season.

Andersen missed the last two games with an upper-body injury but will be available for tomorrow’s game against the Lightning. Andersen should start but comes in having gone 1-2-1 while allowing a combined 18 goals on 151 shots (.881 SV%) in his last five appearances. He is also 1-1-1 with a 2.63 GAA and .929 SV% against the Lightning this season.

Andersen left Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Andersen made 17 saves on 20 shots before being replaced by Curtis McElhinney in the Maple Leafs shootout win over the Stars last night. Andersen will not be available for Thursday’s game in Buffalo as McElhinney has already been named the starter and Garrett Sparks has been recalled from Toronto (AHL). There is no word on the severity of Andersen’s injury at this point.
