Hamilton left Tuesday's game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Hamilton logged 13:25 TOI before departing Tuesday's come-from-behind win over the Islanders. Hamilton did not return for the third period and head coach Lindy Ruff's only update was that he "couldn't play." Hamilton is questionable for Thursday's game in Philadelphia.

Dougie Hamilton underwent successful surgery on his wrist and is expected to be ready for the start of 2023-24.

Hamilton announced Tuesday that he had successfully underwent successful surgery to repair a wrist injury on his right arm and will be ready at the start of the 2023-24 season. The 29-year-old is coming off an impressive career-season in New Jersey, where he finished fourth in the NHL in points among defensemen with 74 (22G/52A) and first in SOG (275).

Hamilton (jaw) is expected to be back in the Devils lineup on Thursday.

Hamilton has been sidelined since January 2nd but is set to return to the lineup on Thursday. Damon Severson played very well while Hamilton was out, posting 14 points (2G / 12A) in 16 games and he will remain on PP1 in Hamilton's return. Hamilton had 10 points (2G / 8A) in his last 15 games before getting hurt, with nine of those points coming at 5v5.

As expected, it looks like Hamilton will make his long-awaited return in Game 1 vs. his former team. Head coach Rod Brind'Amour did not announce who would come out of the lineup for Hamilton but it's expected to be Haydn Fleury. Hamilton will likely skate with Jaccob Slavin and quarterback the top power-play unit, bumping Sami Vatanen to PP2.

Hamilton was on the ice again for Monday's practice and head coach Rod Brind'Amour said he is "hopeful" that Hamilton will be ready for Game 1 on Tuesday. It would be his first game since January 16th. He had 40 points (14G / 26A) in 47 regular-season games before breaking his leg vs. Columbus.

Hamilton returned to Hurricanes' practice on Thursday.

Hamilton, who missed the Hurricanes' three-game sweep of the Rangers, practiced for the first time since July 22nd. Carolina likely won't play for a week, so Hamilton will have plenty of time to get back up to speed before Round 1. In practice Hamilton skated alongside Jaccob Slavin on the Hurricanes' top defensive pair. He was also the lone defenseman on the team's first power-play unit.
