Coming off a 6-3 victory vs. Philadelphia on Saturday with Dustin Wolf occupying the crease, Calgary will turn to their other netminder Daniel Vladar on Sunday in Edmonton. The 27-year-old picked up a victory in his first start of the season despite a very average showing (5 GA - .792 SV%) and will look to keep Calgary's undefeated start to the season alive (2-0-0). They head to Edmonton to take on the Oilers, who have struggled mightily out of the gate with their 0-2-0 record and 11 goals against.

With the departure of Jacob Markstrom to the New Jersey Devils, the Flames start the season with Vladar and Dustin Wolf as their two netminders. Vladar will get the first opportunity to make his case for the starting position in their season opener against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday. The 27-year-old Vladar is coming off the worst season of his young career, posting a 3.62 GAA and .882 SV% in 20 games (8-9-2). The Flames enter action as +164 road underdogs against the Canucks.

Dustin Wolf will likely stay with the Flames for the remainder of the season, backing up Jacob Markstrom.

Vladar has not played since January 20th, serving as a backup to Jacob Markstrom, and has been activated after being on IR for the last week. The Flames recalled Dustin Wolf from the Calgary Wranglers (AHL) earlier this week before reassigning him back on Friday morning. Vladar owns an ugly 3.27 GAA and .888 SV% in 16 games (7-7-2) this season.

The Flames have recalled Dustin Wolf as Jacob Markstrom is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, but they will turn to Vladar on Tuesday against the Arizona Coyotes. Vladar was solid his last time out, stopping 31 of the 33 shots he faced enroute to a 4-2 victory over the Lightning. This presumably sets Vladar up to start a pair of games this weekend as the Flames are set to play a back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday. He draws a difficult matchup on Thursday with the Flames being slight underdogs at +105 in Nashville.

Vladar will be back between the pipes for Calgary on Thursday after conceding the start in each of the last two games to rookie Dustin Wolf. Vladar was lit up by the Avalanche his last time out, surrendering six goals on 38 shots enroute to a 6-5 defeat. He has struggled to take advantage of the extra playing time afforded to him as a result of Jacob Markstrom's injury, registering a woeful .876 SV% and a 3.76 GAA on the season. Vladar and the Flames find themselves as +125 underdogs in Minnesota on Thursday.

Vladar was relieved by Dustin Wolf in the second period in his last start after allowing three goals on 16 shots (.813 SV%) and will return to the crease on Monday in Colorado against the Avalanche. As a whole, Vladar has been inconsistent this season, sporting an ugly 3.45 GAA and .877 SV% through eight games (4-3-1). In addition, he only has two quality starts (.250 QS%) and has been difficult to rely upon this season. The Flames are +155 road underdogs against an Avalanche team that has lost five of their last six (1-3-2).

Vladar has been inconsistent this season but is coming off his strongest performance to date, a 27-save (.964 SV%) 2-1 overtime victory over the Vegas Golden Knights. The Flames are slight +102 home underdogs against a Wild team that won three straight since their coaching change, outscoring their opposition 13-3.
