Ben Hutton News

The Kings have signed Ben Hutton to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million.

After four years and 276 NHL games with the Canucks, Hutton is going to the Kings on a one-year deal. The 26-year-old left-shot defenseman had 20 points (5G / 15A) in 69 games last season and provides Los Angeles with a little depth while Derek Forbort recovers from a back injury.

Hutton (foot) will not play Wednesday vs. the Maple Leafs.

Hutton suffered an apparent foot injury late in Sunday’s loss in Vegas. Since the start of February, Hutton ranks third in the NHL in TOI/GP (26:42) trailing just Drew Doughty and Ryan Suter, so this is a huge loss for the Canucks blueline. Vancouver recalled Guillaume Brisebois from Utica (AHL) to replace Hutton on Tuesday.

Hutton's mumps test came back negative; cleared to play on Tuesday.

Hutton missed Saturday’s game with what was believed to be mumps, but he was misdiagnosed. Hutton is feeling better and will suit up tonight vs. the Red Wings. He comes into Tuesday with four goals and 11 assists (15 points) in 50 games this season.

Hutton (hand) will return to the Canucks lineup on Tuesday.

Hutton has been sidelined by a fracture in his hand since January 6th, but will be back in tonight in Nashville. Hutton has collected 11 points (4G / 7A) in 41 games so far this season. Philip Larsen will be the healthy scratch with Hutton returning.

Hutton is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury.

Hutton was held out of Saturday’s game in Calgary and head coach Willie Desjardins said that Hutton will be “out for a bit.” The Canucks had to play with five defenseman on Saturday, so expect them to recalled someone before Tuesday’s game.
