Which teams will close out their series in Game 6?

There’s a legitimate possibility that the first round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs will come to an end on Friday night…but will it?
There are three Game 6s on the docket on Friday – the Montreal Canadiens taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Buffalo Sabres visiting the Boston Bruins, and the Vegas Golden Knights going up against the Utah Mammoth. The Habs, Sabres and Golden Knights all have a chance to punch their tickets to their respective division finals, though their opponents won’t make things easy on them.
On Friday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton give their take on who might be able to get the job done in Game 6.
Carter Hutton: I’m really confident in the Buffalo Sabres tonight. I think this is a team that is too good to be stopped, and I think Jeremy Swayman can do his best, but I think the Sabres come out with the win tonight. The most interesting one for me, truthfully, is gonna be the Utah game at home. I think the Lightning and Canadiens have established what they are. It’s gonna be a tight-knit game, probably another overtime or one-goal game. It’s gonna be swing and just little moments.
So, it’s really hard to pick a winner in that one, in my personal opinion. I think it’s probably the best series we’ve seen so far. What does Utah do tonight on home ice after that loss and 4-3 win, uh, giving up a shorty in overtime? Is it totally over? Are they gonna lay an absolute egg tonight? Vegas maturity comes through. … I just think it’s very interesting to, like, what Utah team shows up tonight.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Will that experience of Vegas finally kind of wear down that young team in Utah? At the same time, we talked about it yesterday. Utah has had a lead in all five third periods, so they, they’ve played well for long stretches and just kinda crumbled late in hockey games. I don’t wanna touch a prediction for Buffalo-Boston because I think I’m 0-5 in predicting those game-by-game. So, I’m not touching that one.
Tampa-Montreal, not even worth predicting because it’s a coin flip. One team’s gonna hit two goalposts. Another team’s gonna hit one goalpost and have one go off the post and in, and that’s how it’ll be decided.
