Golden Knights provide injury updates for multiple players
Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy provided injury updates to goaltender Carter Hart and forwards Brandon Saad and William Karlsson on Saturday ahead of their game against the St. Louis Blues.
Carter Hart is week-to-week with a lower body injury.
— SinBin.vegas (@SinBinVegas) January 10, 2026The most notable update was regarding Hart, who is now week-to-week with a lower-body injury. He left Thursday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets after a scramble in front of the net led to him falling awkwardly and struggling to get up.
With Adin Hill already injured, Hart’s injury means that Akira Schmid will be back in the starting role for the time being. However, Hill returned to practice on Friday, likely indicating he’ll return soon.
Hart has struggled so far this season at either level, with a 5-3-3 record, an .871 save percentage and a -7.75 5v5 goals saved above expected in 12 games with the Golden Knights, and a 1-2-0 record and an .839 SV% in the AHL with the Henderson Golden Knights.
Brandon Saad is out tonight and tomorrow with an injury, is considered day-to-day.
William Karlsson is still not close to returning, per Cassidy.
Saad is also not in the lineup for Saturday’s game due to an injury, and is not expected to play in Sunday’s game against the San Jose Sharks either, but is only out on a day-to-day basis.
It’s not clear when Saad was hurt, as there wasn’t a distinct play in Thursday’s game that may have caused an injury. Saad didn’t play in the final 5:30 of the game, but considering that the Blue Jackets scored on his last shift to make it a one-goal game, he likely didn’t play again for strategic purposes.
Saad has struggled significantly this season with just two goals and five assists for seven points in 39 games.
Cassidy also provided an update on Karlsson, who has been out of the lineup since November 8th due to a lower-body injury. According to Cassidy, Karlsson is still not close to returning to the lineup. He had four goals and three assists for seven points in 14 games before his injury.
The Golden Knights currently sit in first in the Pacific Division with a 19-11-12 record. They’ll look to build off of back-to-back wins when they host the Blues on Saturday at 7 p.m. PST.
