Goldeneyes re-sign Jenn Gardiner, Izzy Daniel to contract extensions

The Vancouver Goldeneyes announced Wednesday they re-signed Jenn Gardiner to a three-year extension and Izzy Daniel to a two-year deal.
The deals are two of Vancouver’s three protections as part of the next phase in the PWHL’s expansion process. Last week, the Goldeneyes re-signed Sarah Nurse to a two-year deal, making her the team’s first protected player.
Gardiner, 23, scored nine goals and recorded 10 assists for 19 points in 2025-26, tied for the team lead in goals and second in points. The Surrey, B.C., native has 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points in two PWHL seasons with the Goldeneyes and the Montreal Victoire.
Gardiner was a finalist for the 2025 Rookie of the Year, finishing second among all rookies with 18 points. She helped Canada earn a silver medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics, and was part of two NCAA National Championship squads with The Ohio State University.
The 23-year-old Daniel recorded seven goals and three assists for 10 points with Vancouver last season. The Minneapolis, Minn., native has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in two seasons with the Goldeneyes and Toronto Sceptres.
Daniel won the Patty Kazmaier Award in 2024, becoming the first player from Cornell University to do so. She scored 21 goals and 38 assists for 59 points in her senior season.
The Goldeneyes clinched the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 PWHL Draft after a disappointing inaugural season, where they finished 9-3-4-14 with 37 points. The team fired head coach Brian Idalski last week.
