Canucks’ Marco Rossi, Conor Garland out at least a week
Not even a week after finally getting top-line center Elias Pettersson back in the lineup, the Vancouver Canucks are getting more unfortunate injury news.
Center Marco Rossi and winger Conor Garland will both be out at least a week with injuries.

— Jeff Paterson (@patersonjeff) January 1, 2026Rossi, 24, was acquired from the Minnesota Wild in mid-December as part of the blockbuster Quinn Hughes trade. It’s unclear when or how Rossi got hurt, but Canucks head coach Adam Foote comfirmed he has a lower-body injury.

In eight games for Vancouver since coming over from Minnesota, the Swiss national has a goal and an assist. He has five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 25 games combined between the Wild and Canucks this season. Last season for Minnesota, Rossi had 24 goals and 36 assists for 60 points in 82 games.
The Wild selected Rossi ninth overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He is currently in the first season of a three-year, $15 million deal.
The nature of Garland’s injury is currently undisclosed, but Foote said it was the result of a slew foot during Tuesday’s 6-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Garland, 29, is now in his fifth year with Vancouver. In 33 games this season, he has seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points. The Scituate, Massachusetts native has been a reliable, consistent top-six forward with the Canucks. Since coming over in a trade from the Arizona Coyotes in July of 2021, he has played no fewer than 77 games and put up between 46 and 52 points each season.
Last offseason, Vancouver signed Garland to a six-year, $36 million extension which will kick in next season.
The Canucks will play their first game of 2026 on Friday when they host the Seattle Kraken, before playing the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
