Leafs sign Lettieri, Hlavaj to one-year deals

The Toronto Maple Leafs have secured some organizational depth at a couple of positions.
On Friday, the team announced that it has signed forward Vinni Lettieri and goaltender Samuel Hlavaj to one-year contracts.
Lettieri is entering his second season in the Leafs system. He came to Toronto on a one-year contract after spending two of the previous three campaigns with the Boston Bruins organization. He made an immediate impact in his new digs, scoring 14 goals and 28 assists for 42 points in 55 regular-season games with the Leafs’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, finishing fourth on the team in scoring. He really stepped up in the playoffs, leading all skaters with 26 points, notching 11 goals and 15 assists, helping the Marlies win the Calder Cup for the second time in franchise history.
The Execlsior, Minn. native has seen some considerable time in the NHL, making stops with the Anaheim Ducks, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild and Bruins. In 155 games in the league, Lettieri has scored 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points. In 379 AHL regular-season games, he has notched 155 goals and 329 points, with 37 points in 38 playoff contests.
Hlavaj had a rather eventful 2025-26 season. While he had a rough second season with the Iowa Wild, the Wild’s primary affiliate, he was the starting goaltender for Slovakia at the Winter Olympics. He backstopped the team to the bronze-medal game, which saw the Slovaks fall to Finland. The Martin native went 2-3-0 in Milan, with a 2.63 goals-against average and a .873 save percentage.
In 22 games with Iowa, he had a record of 7-11-5, with a 3.28 GAA, a .887 SV% and two shutouts.
In 58 AHL games, Hlavaj has a career record of 21-25-9, with a 3.02 GAA, a .897 SV% and three shutouts. He’s also been Slovakia’s No. 1 netminder at the past three IIHF Men’s World Championships.
