Leafs’ Stolarz leaves game against Capitals with injury
Toronto Maple Leafs’ goaltender Anthony Stolarz left Wednesday’s game against the Washington Capitals with an injury.
Stolarz was hurt just minutes into the game after stopping a point shot from Capitals’ defenseman Martin Fehervary. He required help from his teammates to get off the ice and head to the dressing room.

He stopped two shots after just 2:34 of ice time.
Going into Wednesday night, Stolarz appeared in 25 games with the Leafs this season, posting a 10-10-3 record with an .892 save percentage (SV%) and a minus-seven goals saved above expected (GSAx).
Through two seasons with Toronto, Stolarz is 31-18-6 with a .911 SV% in 59 appearances. Last September, the Leafs signed Stolarz to a four-year, $15-million contract extension, paying him an annual average value (AAV) of $3.75 million through the 2029-30 season.
Now in his ninth NHL season, Stolarz has appeared in 167 regular-season games, posting a 74-49-15 record with a .914 SV% and 2.65 GAA with the Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers.
Stolarz, a native of Edison, N.J., spent parts of seven seasons in the American Hockey League, posting a .913 SV% and 2.86 GAA with a 74-53-24 record in 155 career games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and San Diego Gulls.
Stolarz was taken in the second round by the Flyers in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Before turning professional, he spent two seasons with the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights, helping the team win an OHL Championship in 2013.
Going into Wednesday, the Leafs were 32-31-14 with 78 points, ranked last in the Atlantic Division and second-last in the Eastern Conference. They were officially eliminated from playoff contention last week for the first time in a decade.
