Blue Jays’ George Springer, Ernie Clement sit in wrong seats at Leafs game

Toronto Blue Jays stars George Springer and Ernie Clement are known for their versatility on the baseball diamond, but they just learned that they can’t play any position they want in every situation.
Springer and Clement attended the Toronto Maple Leafs‘ home game against the New York Rangers on Wednesday, wearing personalized Leafs jerseys complete with their own last names on the back and their own Blue Jays uniform numbers. As it turns out, however, they initially sat in the wrong seats, and had to be directed by a member of the Scotiabank Arena personnel to their correct seats partway through the game.

Is it suspicious that Springer and Clement were sitting closer to the ice than they were supposed to be? Sure. But we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for not trying to finesse better seats for themselves.
The Blue Jays’ season is set to begin on Friday with their home opener against the Athletics.
After falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers last season in one of the most dramatic and crushing World Series losses of all time, the Blue Jays are looking to bounce back and play in two consecutive World Series since 1992 and 1993.
Springer and Clement were central figures for the Jays last season, with each of them earning near-folk hero status among Blue Jays faithful. Springer hit the three-run home run in the seventh inning of game seven of the American League Championship series against the Seattle Mariners to propel Toronto to the World Series. Clement, meanwhile, tallied 30 hits over the course of the postseason, which set the record for the most in baseball history.
The two Blue Jays got to witness a rare winning effort from Toronto’s NHL team on Wednesday, as the Leafs edged the Rangers by a score of 4-3.
