One of the rising stars in the game is going to hit the books in Ann Arbor.

2027 NHL Draft prospect Landon DuPont is set to join the University of Michigan during the 2026-27 season, multiple sources have confirmed.

DuPont is joining the NCAA ranks after spending the past two years with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League. He established himself as one of the league’s top up-and-coming blueliners, giving the Silvertips some secondary scoring from the back end. After posting a respectable 60 points during his rookie season in 2024-25, the Calgary native set career highs in goals (18), assists (55) and points (73). He led all Everett defensemen in scoring, finishing tied for fourth with Prince George Cougars’ d-man Carson Carels in defensive scoring. In the playoffs, DuPontshone even more, notching five goals and 23 points in 18 games, helping Everett capture the Ed Chynoweth Cup for the first time in franchise history.

At the Memorial Cup, the 17-year-old posted six points in four games, helping the Silvertips reach the championship game, where the yultimately lost to the Kitchener Rangers.

In 127 regular-season games in the WHL, DuPont posted 35 goals and 98 assists for 133 points, with another 38 points in 28 postseason contests.

Along with his club career, DuPont has some hardware from the international game. He won the silver medal with Canada Red at the 2024 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge and the bronze at the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

DuPont joins what is certainly going to be a stacked roster in Ann Arbor next fall. Head coach Brandon Naurato will also have Cameron Reid, fresh off beating DuPont and the Silvertips to win the Memorial Cup, as well as Newfoundland Regiment scoring star Justin Larose and Jack Nesbitt from the Windsor Spitfires. They will be joining expected returners Michael Hage (Montreal Canadiens), Will Horcoff (Pittsburgh Penguins) and Jack Ivankovic (Nashville Predators).
