McGraw will perform during the first intermission of the Stadium Series game, which will see the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins square off on February 1st.
While Florida may not be the first place that comes to mind when one thinks of country music, McGraw does have ties to the Sunshine State. McGraw himself was born in Delhi, Louisiana, but his mother lived in Jacksonville, Florida before meeting his father, former MLB pitcher Frank Edwin “Tug” McGraw Jr., and McGraw lived in Jacksonville for a brief period of his life when his mother returned there, even attending Florida Community College for one term.
McGraw has been in the country music scene since 1990, and boasts a discography of 17 studio albums. He’s won three Grammy Awards, and has seen 62 songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100, including three songs in the top 10: his feature on Nelly’s “Over and Over”, a duet with his wife Faith in “It’s Your Love”, and “Please Remember Me”.
McGraw has also occasionally dabbled in acting, with a filmography highlighted by Friday Night Lights, The Blind Side and Yellowstone.
The Stadium Series will take place in Raymond James Stadium, home of Tampa Bay’s National Football League team, the Buccaneers. It will be the first ever outdoor game hosted in Tampa, Florida, and the second ever in Florida after the 2026 Winter Classic between the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers held in Miami, Florida earlier this month.
This will the Lightning’s second time playing in an outdoor game, previously doing so in 2022 for a Stadium Series game with the Nashville Predators. The Bruins will be playing in their fifth outdoor game, but their first ever Stadium Series event, with the previous four being Winter Classics.
