The Calgary Flames have signed center prospect Theo Stockselius to a three-year, entry-level contract, the club announced Monday afternoon.

Stockselius, 18, split the 2025-26 season between the Djurgårdens IF men’s and U20 junior teams in his native Sweden. The Flames originally selected Stockselius in the second round (No. 54 overall) of the 2025 NHL Draft, using the pick they acquired from the Washington Capitals in exchange for Andrew Mangiapane.

In 11 games with the U20 club in the 2025-26 season, Stockselius collected four goals and 16 points; he added nine goals and 20 points in 11 playoff contests with the junior team. Stockselius also appeared in 19 SHL games with the top-level Djurgårdens club across the 2025-26 regular season and playoffs, recording one assist while averaging less than 10 minutes per night.

Stockselius’s contract with the Flames is set to take effect with the 2026-27 season, although he may not officially join the organization in North America right away. According to FlamesNation managing editor Ryan Pike, Stockselius will likely be loaned back to Djurgårdens next season.

The WHL’s Calgary Hitmen currently control Stockselius’s Canadian major junior rights, having acquired them from the Seattle Thunderbirds early in the 2025-26 season. As a 2007-born player, Stockselius still has two years of CHL eligibility remaining.

Stockselius played for Team Sweden at the 2025 IIHF U18 World Championship, collecting one goal and five points in seven games and winning a silver medal. The 6’3″ centre will be eligible to play for the Tre Kronor at the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The Flames picked eight players at the 2025 NHL Draft, and Stockselius is the first member of their draft class to sign an entry-level contract. First-round picks Cole Reschny and Cullen Potter are still collegiate prospects, as are Maceo Phillips, Ethan Wyttenbach, and Aidan Lane; seventh-round picks Jakob Leander and Yan Matveiko are also playing in Europe but remain unsigned.
