An intriguing European prospect has signed his first NHL contract.

On Friday, Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois announced that the team has signed defenseman Tomas Kralovic to a three-year, entry-level contract.

How the announcement came to be was rather fun. At the conclusion of the Lightning’s development camp on Friday, Kralovic received the contract offer on the ice, leading to the 20-year-old putting pen to paper before packing his bags.

It has been an eventful couple of weeks for Kralovic. He was taken by the Lightning in the third round, 90th overall, of the 2026 NHL Draft just 10 days ago. Now, he knows he has a spot within the organization in the very near future.

The Bratislava, Slovakia native is coming off the best performance of his young pro career in his homeland. Playing for the hometown HC Slovan Bratislava of the Tipsport Liga, he notched career highs in goals (6), assists (25), points (31) and plus/minus (+17). His performance helped the team finish second in Slovakia’s top pro league, as Slovan made it all the way to the final. Ultimately, Bratislava fell to the top-seeded HK Nitra. Kralovic ended up scoring four goals and two assists for six points in 17 appearances in the postseason.

In 108 games with Slovan, Kralovic has posted seven goals and 32 assists for 39 points, with six points in 21 playoff contests.

Along with his pro career, Kralovic has represented his country on the international stage a few times. He played for Slovakia at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship, the 2023 World Junior A Challenge, the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship and 2025 Deutschland Cup.
