One of the teams that could challenge some of the top contenders at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympics, Switzerland, reveals its men’s hockey roster for the Games on Wednesday.

Led by head coach Patrick Fischer, the 25-man roster will look to stage upsets against Canada, Czechia, and France in Group A, with hopes of earning an underdog medal, which would mark their third after winning bronze at the 1928 and 1948 Olympics on home ice in St. Moritz.

The Swiss squad is headlined by Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi and New Jersey Devils forward Nico Hischier, who lead a group of 10 NHL players on the roster. Each of the remaining 15 currently plays in the Swiss National League, and several also boast NHL experience.

While they may lack the depth of top-tier NHL talent as some other nations, the power play should give them a boost, with the likes of Josi, Hischier, potentially joined by the LA Kings’ Kevin Fiala, the Devils’ Timo Meier, and the Winnipeg Jets’ Nino Niederreiter, all having spent time on NHL power plays this season.

At the 2025 IIHF World Championships, not featuring as much NHL talent, Switzerland’s power play finished with a tournament-leading 32.35 percent.

Between the pipes, the Swiss bring Vegas Golden Knights netminder Akira Schmid, who boasts a .894  save percentage in 21 games this season. He’s joined by former NHL backstop Reto Berra, now playing in Fribourg, as well as Leonardo Genoni, who has stood out at the World Championships with 10 wins and five shutouts in 14 games, helping Switzerland win silver in 2024 and 2025. He was named Best Goaltender and MVP of the tournament in 2025.

Here’s the full roster ready to compete in February.

Forwards: Sven Andrighetto, Christoph Bertschy, Kevin Fiala, Nico Hischier, Ken Jager, Simon Knak, Philipp Kurashev, Denis Malgin, Timo Meier, Nino Niederreiter, Damien Riat, Sandro Schmid, Pius Suter, Calvin Thurkauf

Defensemen: Tim Berni, Michael Fora, Andrea Glauser, Roman Josi, Dean Kukan, J.J. Moser, Jonas Siegenthaler

Goaltenders: Reto Berra, Leonardo Genoni, Akira Schmid
