St. Louis Blues set franchise record with 12 consecutive wins

The St. Louis Blues defeated the Colorado Avalanche 5-4 Saturday night, setting a franchise record with their 12th straight win.

The Blues were led by a four-point effort from forward Robert Thomas (one goal and three assists), three assists from defenseman Cam Fowler and two goals from forward Zack Bolduc.

Goaltender Jordan Binnington stopped 35 of 39 shots, and now has a 27-21-4 record with a .902 save percentage (SV%) and 2.66 goals against average (GAA). He spoke with reporters after the game, calling the new franchise high-mark “very cool.”

“It’s good to enjoy these moments, especially at home,” Binnington said. “It’s really fun to play here right now and you can tell there’s good energy all around. At the same time, we’ve got to focus and keep looking forward while we’re here.”

Since taking over as Blues’ head coach, Jim Montgomery is 34-16-6 and has helped St. Louis solidify themselves as a playoff team in the Western Conference.

“I am proud of that group in there to be able to overcome all of the adversity that we’ve had this year, whether that was self-inflicted by us,” Montgomery said. “It doesn’t matter. We’ve overcome it. I’m proud of that group for what they’ve achieved.”

The Blues are now 43-28-7 with 93 points, fourth in the Central Division and hold on to the No. 1 Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

The Blues’ previous franchise record was 11, set in 2018-19 during their Stanley Cup championship-winning season.
