Smith Entertainment Group announces state-of-the-art performance center for NHL’s Mammoth, NBA’s Jazz

The Utah Mammoth are going to have to find some fresh new digs to prepare for the ice in the near future.
On Thursday, Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) announced a partnership with Intermountain Health that will feature the creation of a state-of-the-art sports medicine center that will be added to SEG’s sports campus in Sandy, Utah, just outside of Salt Lake City.
The site, dubbed the Intermountain Health Sports Performance Center, will be adjacent to the Utah Mammoth Ice Center, as well as the future practice facility of the NBA’s Utah Jazz. It’s set to open in 2028, and become the only sports and health campus in the NBA and NHL, with two teams under a single healthcare provider and single ownership group.
Mammoth owner and SEG CEO, Ryan Smith, says the new venue will be unlike anything in the major sports leagues.
Having a single ownership group and a single healthcare provider across both teams will allow us to innovate, share best practices, and build toward the integrated care that is the future and continue to invest in proactive care, health, and longevity for our teams and the community,” Smith said in a statement. “Partnering with Intermountain Health on this campus is one more important step in creating Utah as a destination market for professional athletes and our ability to serve the community at large. … Together, Intermountain and SEG are creating a best-in-class resource for Utah Jazz and Mammoth athletes while also elevating the care and performance resources for the entire community.”
The Utah Mammoth Ice Center opened in February, giving one of the NHL’s newest franchises its own facility to train. It certainly helped the team, as the Mammoth made it to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since relocating from Arizona, ultimately losing to the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round.
