Should the Jets make a move to save their season?

The Winnipeg Jets are in the midst of a nightmarish season. One year after falling in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Winnipeg finds itself in last place in the Western Conference with a record of 15-21-5.
Even with reigning Hart Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck back in the fold after returning from a knee injury, the Jets are struggling mightily to find wins on their schedule.
The secondary scoring provided by Nikolaj Ehlers, lost for nothing in unrestricted free agency, has not been adequately replaced, and with Hellebuyck not performing anywhere near his MVP level, it’s easy to see where things have gone wrong.
On Wednesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, host Tyler Yaremchuk and co-host and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton discussed whether general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff should aggressively pursue a move to try to reverse the team’s momentum or not.
Tyler Yaremchuk: As we get to our #AskDFO, Joe’s in the chat, he says another overrated team in Winnipeg. And there’s some rumblings today that maybe Kevin Cheveldayoff is going to inject some scoring into this team. I’ll be honest, Hutts, I don’t understand why you would add to this group.
Carter Hutton: I agree… I guess this is a team where it’s surprising but not surprising. Presidents’ Trophy winner? No. I don’t think anyone really thought that they were the best team in the league last year after running away with the regular season… I don’t think we saw this big of a regression in this game. I’m concerned.
Tyler Yaremchuk: You can even go back to last year, and I know they were red hot… Ehlers walks for nothing. You don’t replace him. You bring in Gustav Nyquist… [Ehlers] was an absolute game breaker for them. As good as Scheifele and Kyle Connor are together, not having Ehlers there for that secondary support, it’s killing them.
