Kraken’s Shane Wright leaves game against Sabres

The Seattle Kraken announced on social media that forward Shane Wright left Saturday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres and would not return.

The Kraken didn’t share why the 22-year-old would exit the game, but his last shift came late in the first period after taking a hit from Sabres’ Logan Stanley. Wright was slow to get up and would not return for the second frame.

Seattle would lose the game 3-2 in a shootout, with Buffalo’s Tage Thompson and Jack Quinn scoring in the shootout.
Through 71 games this season, Wright has 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points, averaging 13:57 of ice time. In 166 career regular-season games, the 22-year-old forward has 35 goals and 42 assists for 77 points in 166 career regular-season games.
He also played in 67 games with Seattle’s AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, with 26 goals and 27 assists for 53 points. He scored six goals and 16 assists for 22 points in 36 Calder Cup Playoff games.
Wright, a Burlington, Ont. native, was taken No. 4 overall by the Kraken in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. He played parts of three Ontario Hockey League seasons with the Kingston Frontenacs and Windsor Spitfires and recorded 86 goals and 111 assists for 197 points in 141 career games. He also posted four goals and 13 assists for 17 points in 15 playoff games.
The Kraken went into Saturday’s game with a 32-29-10 record with 74 points, fifth in the Pacific Division and three points back of a Wildcard spot in the Western Conference.
Captain Jordan Eberle leads the team with 23 goals and 51 points, while Vince Dunn has 30 assists.
