Sharks’ Ryan Reaves out week-to-week with finger injury

A veteran is going to miss some time after a tough injury.
When speaking to the media on Monday, San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky stated that forward Ryan Reaves is going to be week-to-week due to an injured finger.
Reaves week to week, per Warsofsky
Reaves was hurt during the Sharks’ game this past Saturday night against the Philadelphia Flyers. In the opening minutes of the game, Reaves dropped the gloves with Flyers forward Garrett Wilson. The 39-year-old seemed to have injured his finger during the fisticuffs and went straight to the bench after the fight.
He took just one more shift in the opening period. He ended up not playing the rest of the game, despite staying on the bench to support his teammates. Reaves’ stat line was 19 seconds of ice time across two shifts, with just the five minutes in penalties.
The Winnipeg native has played the majority of the games this season, despite being a healthy scratch for several games and being placed on injured reserve in early February with an upper-body injury. In the 50 games he has appeared in, Reaves has scored three goals, with his last tally coming back on Dec. 27 against the Vancouver Canucks. The longtime tough guy hadn’t scored a goal since the 2023-24 season, when he was a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has a plus/minus of -2 while averaging 7:48 of ice time per game.
Reaves is in the final season of his three-year contract that he signed with Toronto in 2023. The deal has an AAV of $4.05 million.
Reaves has appeared in 962 regular-season games in his NHL career, amassing 1,137 penalty minutes while also scoring 66 goals and 74 assists for 140 points. He also has nine points in 113 playoff games.
The Sharks (32-30-6) are sixth in the Pacific Division, five points back of the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
