The San Jose Sharks are winners of four straight and now find themselves in the driver’s seat when it comes to clinching a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Sharks are now 36-31-7 with 79 points, fourth in the Pacific Division and currently holding onto the No. 2 Wildcard spot in the West. With eight games left in their 2025-26 regular season, MoneyPuck has San Jose at a 42.1% chance of making the postseason.

On Friday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton discuss the Sharks’ recent streak of wins and what they’re doing to stay ahead of the pack.

Tyler Yaremchuk: The Sharks has to play the Ducks and Oilers, each one more time, and they still have two head-to-heads with the Predators. Circle your calendars, because they face Nashville on Saturday, then a few weeks from now, their third-last game is also against the Preds.

After everything that happened on Thursday, it’s the Sharks winning their fourth night in a row, and they’re in the driver’s seat. They woke up Friday feeling great, tied with the rest of that group with a game in hand. Those head-to-head matchups against Nashville will decide it, but the Sharks are in a really nice spot.

Carter Hutton: I think if you looked at two days ago coming into this back-to-back with Anaheim and Toronto, you could say this was their season to keep pace, and they did it.

What I did like about that was the fact that Macklin Celebrini was unbelievable in that Ducks game, and not that he didn’t play well against Toronto, but he didn’t find the scoresheet. But the team found a way to get contributions against a weaker Leafs team.
