Who else will be involved in the Quinn Hughes sweepstakes?

Quinn Hughes is the unabashed best defenseman in Vancouver Canucks history, but his time on Canada’s West Coast looks to be coming to an unceremonious end, as trade rumors fly around the team’s captain.
While there have been significant links between Hughes and the New Jersey Devils, where his brothers Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes play, it is unlikely a deal would be simple – every other team in the league wants a dynamic, superstar defenseman like the Canucks’ captain.
On Thursday’s episode of Daily Faceoff Live, hosts Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton were joined by NHL insider David Pagnotta to break down other potential options in a trade.
Yaremchuk: We’re all so focused on the Detroit Red Wings for Quinn Hughes or New Jersey and he’s going to play with his brothers, but surely, if Hughes is made available, there’s going to be other teams in the conversation. It’s not just going to be a two horse race, right?
Pagnotta: No, definitely not. There are going to be several teams and almost the entire league is going to have an idea as to whether or not they have a shot at getting this guy.
There’s all the talk of the preference, from Vancouver’s perspective, is to send him to the Eastern Conference, and I think if I think that would be his preference, if he’s set on moving, which I don’t think is the case yet.
We’ve heard Philadelphia, I’ve expect the New York Rangers to take a swing at this at some point, I believe the Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, there are other teams as well that are in the mix that have varying degrees of interest, but I still don’t think we’re at the point where the Vancouver Canucks are actively trying to move him.
I think the Canucks are going to continue to have discussions and have an open line, but unless somebody blows out of the water for either Quinn Hughes or any of their other assets that are available, I think it’s kind of a holding pattern, with everything going on. I wouldn’t be shocked if we see something this season, but right now in the immediate future I’d be a little bit surprised.
