PWHL Signings Round-Up: Hamilton signs Kjellbin to one-year contract

Just one signing in the PWHL to end the week, with one of the league’s newest franchises securing some depth on the blue line.
On Friday, PWHL Hamilton announced that the team has signed defender Anna Kjellbin to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season.
Kjellbin has kept the pattern of playing in Canada, driving down the 403 after spending a little over a season with the Toronto Sceptres. The Swedish rearguard’s PWHL career began with the Montreal Victoire in their inaugural season, but was traded to the Sceptres at the 2024-25 trade deadline.
This past season, the 32-year-old scored her first regular-season goal in the PWHL, that coming on Dec. 17 against the Victoire. She ended up posting career highs in assists (3) and points (4), registering a plus/minus of +2 while averaging 11:46 of ice time per game. It wasn’t enough to help Toronto reach the Walter Cup Playoffs, as the team finished fifth after losing to the rival Ottawa Charge on the final day of the season, missing the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
In 55 regular-season games in the PWHL, the Goteberg native has notched a goal and six assists for seven points, with two points with the Sceptres during the 2025 postseason.
Along with her pro career, which includes 16 years in the SDHL, Kjellbin is one of the more experienced players on the international stage. She has been part of the Swedish National Team since the 2016 IIHF Women’s World Championship, appearing in two Winter Olympics. This past February, she captained Sweden to the bronze medal game for the first time since 2014, ultimately losing to Switzerland in overtime.
With the addition of Kjellbin, Hamilton now has 13 players signed to standard contracts for its inaugural season. She joins a D-corps that includes former Victoire defender Nicole Gosling, as well as Zoe Boyd, Riley Brengman and Allyson Simpson.
