Sirens sign Makenna Webster to three-year contract

The New York Sirens announced Thursday they signed forward Makenna Webster to a three-year contract through the 2028-29 season.

Webster, 24, was taken by the Sirens in the third round of the 2025 PWHL Draft. Soon after, the St. Louis, Mo., native announced she would spend the 2025-26 season focusing on field hockey, where she was part of the U.S. women’s national team, helping them win gold at the 3 Nations Tournament in New Zealand last January.

“I’m incredibly grateful to have been drafted by New York and to officially begin this next chapter with the Sirens organization,” Webster said in a press release. “After spending the past season focused on field hockey and representing Team USA, I’m excited to get back on the ice and can’t wait to get started with such an amazing team.” 

On the ice, Webster played five seasons of college hockey with the University of Wisconsin and The Ohio State University. In 151 career NCAA games, she recorded 70 goals and 96 assists for 166 points. Her best season came with the Badgers in 2021-22, where she posted 23 goals and 30 assists for 53 points.

In 2021, she helped Wisconsin win the NCAA National Championship and was named the Frozen Four Most Outstanding Player. In 2024, she led Ohio State to a National Championship.

“Makenna is a player we’ve believed in from the day we drafted her,” Sirens general manager Pascal Daoust said in the press release. “Her commitment to excellence, whether representing the United States in field hockey or now joining our team, speaks to the person and competitor she is. Her character, work ethic and mindset fit the culture we are building in New York.

“Her three-year commitment is a strong statement of her belief in our vision and her desire to be part of what we are building,” he added.
