A solid secondary scorer is moving west.

On Monday, PWHL Las Vegas announced that the team has signed forward Katy Knoll to a two-year contract, which will carry through the 2027-28 season.

Knoll is the first of two signings Las Vegas was allowed to make in Phase 4 of the PWHL Expansion Player Distribution Process. She joins the team’s additions from the third phase – Maureen MurphyMegan Carter and former Minnesota Frost teammate Nicole Hensley – as well as the franchise’s five foundational signings –  Erin Ambrose, Mae Batherson, Kendall CooperHayley Scamurra and Hilary Knight (though the last isn’t expected to be around much longer).

Knoll has spent her first two seasons in the league with the Frost and experienced immediate success. Despite playing in just 21 games during her rookie campaign in 2024-25, scoring a goal and an assist, the Amherst, N.Y. native stepped up in the Walter Cup Playoffs, scoring two goals and five points, including an overtime winner in Game 3 of the final against the Ottawa Charge. She also assisted on Liz Schepers’ clinching OT goal in Game 4, helping the Frost capture a second straight Walter Cup. This past regular season, she felt a little more comfortable, posting seven goals and two assists for nine points. She also scored a goal in the semifinal series against the Montreal Victoire, though Minnesota was eliminated in a thrilling five-game series.

The 25-year-old was an unrestricted free agent after playing both seasons in Minnesota on one-year contracts. In 51 career regular-season games, she has notched eight goals and three assists for 11 points, with six points in 13 postseason contests.

The former Northeastern product has some hardware from the international game, having won the gold and silver medals at the 2018 and 2019 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championships, respectively.

The deadline for Phase 4 signings has passed, with Las Vegas still needing to add one more player. It’s not yet known if a deal was in the works and submitted to the league before the 3 p.m. ET deadline.
