Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Nick Seeler left Monday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs and did not return after sustaining a lower-body injury.

Seeler, 32, logged 6:01 of ice time over nine shifts before leaving the game late in the second period. The 6’3″ left-handed defenseman finished the game with one shot on goal and a minus-1 rating.

Entering Monday’s action, Seeler had two goals and eight points while averaging 18:34 of ice time through 58 games with the Flyers in the 2025-26 regular season. The Eden Prairie, Minn. product is under contract with the Flyers through 2028 at a $2.7 million annual cap hit.

The Flyers defeated the Maple Leafs in a shootout by a 3-2 final score at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Monday.

Seeler is currently in his fifth season with the Flyers after joining the club as an unrestricted free agent in 2021. He is midway through the four-year deal he signed with the Flyers in 2024.

The Minnesota Wild originally selected Seeler in the fifth round (No. 131 overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft. After spending two seasons at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and one more at the University of Minnesota, Seeler signed his entry-level contract with the Wild in 2016.

After playing parts of two seasons with the AHL’s Iowa Wild to begin his professional career, Seeler joined the big club midway through the 2017-18 season and played in his first 27 NHL games that year (including five in the playoffs).

Despite emerging as an NHL regular in the 2018-19 season, Seeler only played in six games with the Wild during the 2019-20 campaign before being waived and subsequently claimed by the Chicago Blackhawks. He would appear in just six more games with the Blackhawks to finish the season.

After sitting out the entire 2020-21 season, Seeler returned to the NHL with the Flyers and finally cemented his spot in the league once and for all. In the 2024-25 season, Seeler set career highs in assists (17), points (20), and average ice time (17:17), the last of which he has already surpassed this year.

Through 433 career NHL games over parts of eight seasons with the Wild, Blackhawks, and Flyers, Seeler has collected 13 goals and 70 points. He’s added two assists in five career playoff contests.
