The Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward prospect Alex Ciernik to a three-year, entry-level contract, the club announced Monday afternoon.

Ciernik, 21, split the 2025-26 season between the Finnish Liiga and the second-tier Allsvenskan league in Sweden. The Flyers originally selected the 6′ forward in the fourth round (No. 120 overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft.

Born in Wolfsburg, Germany, Ciernik represents Slovakia internationally and played at both the 2023 and 2024 IIHF World Junior Championships. His father, Ivan, played in 91 NHL games (including playoffs) with the Ottawa Senators and Washington Capitals in the late 1990s and early 2000s, collecting 12 goals and 27 points.

Ciernik skated in 19 Liiga games with the Lahti Pelicans this season, collecting one goal and three points; he added two goals and five points in 21 Allsvenskan games with Nybro Vikings IF. At the end of the 2024-25 season, Ciernik appeared in his first three games with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms, recording an assist.

The Flyers have now signed six of their 10 selections in the 2023 NHL Draft, with Ciernik joining Carson Bjaranason, Denver Barkey, Oliver Bonk, Cole Knuble, and Matvei Michkov. Ciernik is the third Flyers prospect to sign an ELC with the club in the last month, joining Knuble and Noah Powell.

According to the Flyers, Ciernik’s deal will take effect with the start of the 2026-27 season. His deal includes a little more than $100,000 in signing bonuses for all three years, via PuckPedia, and carries a $1.0075 million annual NHL cap hit.

The Flyers currently sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with a 34-23-12 record and 80 points in 69 games in the 2025-26 season. They’re slated to return to action on Tuesday evening to play host to the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7:00 p.m. Eastern.
