Senators offer promotion for fans to exchange Brady Tkachuk jerseys

The Ottawa Senators are trying to help their fans cope with recent events…sort of.
On Thursday, the team announced a special promotion – ‘Chuk Out the Old Jersey’ – giving fans the chance to exchange their officially-licensed Brady Tkachuk Fanatics jerseys to get a discount at the team store.
The promotion is set to take place from July 3-7. Fans must bring their Tkachuk sweaters to the Senators team store at Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata. Fans will get 40% off regularly priced merchandise.
The marketing plan comes a little over a week after the Senators traded Tkachuk, the team’s captain, to the Florida Panthers, in exchange for four draft picks, three of which are first-rounders. It ended Tkachuk’s eight-year tenure with the team that took him fourth overall of the 2018 NHL Draft. Now, the Arizona native is reunited with his older brother, Matthew, as the Panthers look to restore their winning ways. What adds salt to the wound is that Brady, who had a full no-move clause on his contract, requested the trade. The Panthers were one of four teams that Tkachuk was reportedly interested in. The Carolina Hurricanes, who knocked Tkachuk and the Sens out of the postseason this past spring, the Vegas Golden Knights and Minnesota Wild also piqued his interest.
In 572 career games played with the club, Tkachuk registered 213 goals and 250 assists for 463 points. He led the team to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of the past two years, ending the team’s seven-year postseason drought in 2025.
It’s certainly a unique marketing plan by Ottawa. Passionate fans have been known to either throw jerseys away when their favorite players leave town, or even burn them. This way, merchandise doesn’t get destroyed, and Sens supporters can get a new player’s jersey instead.
