A trade? In this environment?

While everyone is focusing on free agency, the Ottawa Charge acquired forward Jenna Buglioni from the Seattle Torrent. In exchange, the Torrent are receiving forward Neena Brick in a one-for-one trade on Friday night.

Buglioni was Seattle’s first-ever draft pick, taken eighth overall in the 2025 PWHL Draft. She was expected to bring the talent and scoring touch that made her a star at Ohio State University to the PWHL. However, on a historically bad Torrent team, Buglioni couldn’t find her footing. Along with suffering an upper-body injury earlier in the campaign, she was buried on the roster, being a healthy scratch on some nights. The Port Moody, B.C. native ended up only dressing in 18 games, sitting out the last month of the season. The 24-year-old failed to register a point, posting a plus/minus of -3 while averaging just 6:05 of ice time.

The Torrent went on to finish last in the PWHL, setting a league record for most losses (21) in a single season.

It wasn’t that long ago that Buglioni was one of the top two-way players in college hockey. She averaged over 30 points in each of her final four seasons as a Buckeye, scoring over 40 points twice while helping OSU win a pair of NCAA championships. There’s a chance that playing in a new market with a winning pedigree could help spark her PWHL career.

Brick was with the Charge for what felt like a whole five minutes. The former Colgate standout was taken by the Charge in the fifth round, 59th overall, of the 2026 draft on Wednesday night. She was taken after a solid first season of pro hockey with MoDo in the SDHL. There, the Regina, Sask, native posted 11 goals and 19 points in 35 games, scoring another three points in four games as MoDo was eliminated in the quarterfinals by SDE HF.

In four years with the Raiders, Brick helped the team win three ECAC titles, scoring 43 goals and 61 assists for 104 points in 150 games.
