The stars aren’t really shining these days in Hollywood.

Following a disappointing overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night, the Los Angeles Kings have lost three of their past five games, and continue to try and simply hang on to a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. While they did score at least three goals, the loss proves that this team still doesn’t have enough offensive juice to hang with other teams in the very competitive Pacific Division.

The Kings, who hold the second Wild Card spot, have the fewest goals scored (114) of any of the 16 teams currently in a playoff spot.

On Friday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton discuss where things are going wrong for the Kings’ offensive attack.

Tyler Yaremchuk: My concern on them coming into this year was that, ‘Are they going to get you know close to Vezina-caliber goaltending from Darcy Kuemper, which is what they got a year ago?’ … They only have two players with over 30 points on the year they’re 28th in the league in goal scoring. I’m not putting the LA Kings in the top tier of this division. I think I have them closer to that middle pack. I think they’re firmly in that middle pack because they can’t score, and I’m not sure if they’re magically gonna find figure out how to score in the next month or two.

Carter Hutton: I agree. I think the smoking gun here is when you look at the roster and you look at the point production of where it is comparatively to the other players in the league in that division, especially when you look at the Edmonton Oilers and you look at Jack Eichel with the Golden Knights and what they’re able to produce. So, then you start to think about the longevity of creating offense as the season tightens up.
