NHL DFS Picks for January 9, 2026: Top Stacks, Best Value Plays & Goalie Targets

Friday, January 9th, 2026. 3-gamer that DraftKings treated quite well. Let’s get to it.
Top Stack of the Day
Washington Capitals Power Play 1 (Leonard, Strome, Chychrun, Ovechkin, Carlson)
Washington is ravaged by injuries but gets a cake matchup against the Blackhawks tonight. Strangely, the Blackhawks have actually had quite a good penalty kill to go wit a below average 5×5 defense. One of the reasons I like Washington tonight is they are doing something you almost never see, two defensemen on the top power play. On a night without a significant number of spend ups, being able to roster two defensemen that will see a lot of special teams is great. Sign me up.
Top Value Stack of the Day
Chicago Blackhawks 3 (Donato, Dickinson and ?)
It is important to point out that the Blackhawks have a case of the flu going around their locker room, so be sure to check out the pregame skate to know exactly who is playing. As it stands, CHI 3 is just too cheap with Bedard coming back tonight, especially Donato who should get more minutes than a standard third line winger. I also really like Mikheyev if he ends up suiting up.
TOP C Value
Alex Turcotte, Los Angeles Kings (3.0k DK)
What a time to be alive that I am recommending Turcotte with a straight face, but he has been awesome lately and got 17+ minutes T.O.I. last time out to go along with a goal. The Kings have been in a bit of a rut lately and they are shuffling their lines to try and find something, so consequently their “3rd” line of Fiala, Turcotte, and Kuzmenko does not get ice time like a traditional third line and plays more like a top 6. Great price and spot here for a small 3-gamer.
Top W Value
Michael Carcone, Utah Mammoth (3.1k DK)
Charts and projections darling Michael Carcone gets to play tonight at home versus the listless Blues and he should be in a great spot to do some damage. If the Mammoth take the lead early, they normally give more time to their bottom lines which means Carcone should have more opportunity to wreak havoc. This is a great spot at a great price.
Top D Value
Louis Crevier, Chicago Blackhawks (3.1k DK)
I already mentioned that I like paying up today for Defenseman, preferring the expensive guys over the cheapies for roster construction based on how today’s slate breaks down. If you need somebody cheap however, it is hard to go wrong with Crevier, who is now a top line pairing and will get ample ice time.
Top G Value
Karel Vejmelka, Utah Mammoth (8.2k DK)
I get it, we are supposed to be picking the top goalie value, and I give you the most expensive guy. Well, in my defense this is a three-game slate, and the only other truly viable option tonight is Logan Thompson, but he is going against skaters I actually like from the Chicago Blackhawks. You may have noticed that I haven’t listed a Blues skater once and because of that we are going with the goalie facing them. As always, especially on a short slate, feel free to play the goalie that best correlates with your overall lineup to gain leverage.
