Islanders’ Bo Horvat not expected to miss Olympics with lower-body injury

New York Islanders forward Bo Horvat’s status with the Canadian Olympic men’s hockey team won’t be affected after he suffered a lower-body injury in Thursday’s game against the Utah Mammoth, according to TSN hockey insider Pierre LeBrun.
Sounds like Bo Horvat’s injury isn’t too serious. Certainly not when it comes to Olympic implications. Good news for Team Canada 🇨🇦

Horvat was forced to leave in the third period after getting tied up with Mammoth defenseman Sean Durzi. He fell awkwardly and went straight for the locker room.
Islanders’ Head coach Patrick Roy told reporters there was no status on Horvat’s injury but he would be re-evaluated on Friday.
New York would lose 7-2 to the Mammoth.
On Thursday, Horvat was named to the Canadian Olympic roster, a major accomplishment for a player who was left off the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off team.
Horvat, 30, has 21 goals and 12 assists for 33 points in 36 games with New York this season, leading the team in both goals and points. Now in his 12th NHL season, Horvat, a native of London, Ont., has 290 goals and 304 assists for 594 points in 849 career regular-season games.
He also has 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points in 34 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Horvat, taken No. 9 overall by the Canucks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, spent three seasons with the London Knights, where he won two OHL Championships and one Memorial Cup. In three junior seasons, he recorded 74 goals and 91 assists for 165 points in 185 career regular-season games.
The Islanders are now 22-15-4 with 48 points through their first 41 games of 2025-26, which puts them second in the Metropolitan Division. Their next game is Saturday at home when they host the leafs nation.
